Partnership ecosystem

FAWoVC’s longstanding relationships with National Line Ministries including Education, Gender, and Science & Technology—remain fundamental to delivering systemic results. These government partners provide the policy entry points and political will FAWoVC needs to implement gender-responsive institutional reforms, ensuring our programs are coordinated with national development agendas and tailored to local contexts.

Our network of 120+ Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) represents our most indispensable alliance. We view academia not merely as a sector, but as a "Living Lab" for transformation. By partnering with current and former female Vice Chancellors and DVCs, we align institutional governance with international standards of excellence, fostering a unified front to drive academic and scientific progress across Africa.

The private sector is a critical partner for achieving systemic transformation in Higher Education. FAWoVC works with corporate leaders to align business innovation, capital, and management expertise with academic governance. Through reciprocal training and the development of our Digital Leadership Hub, we help institutions tap into private sector efficiencies while providing the corporate world with a pipeline of high-caliber, female-led leadership.

We amplify our impact by leveraging the resources and technical expertise of global partners such as  UNESCO, UN WOMEN, DAAD, and JICA. By partnering with these international entities, we provide complementary technical assistance and funding that helps our member institutions meet global benchmarks for research, STEM, and climate resilience.

We expand the expertise and experience available to our members by fostering South-South cooperation. By facilitating knowledge exchange between established and emerging African universities, and helping governments tap into the diverse resources of regional bodies like EROWA, RUFORUM, and the African Union, we ensure that African solutions lead Africa's development.

We continue to diversify our partnerships with philanthropies, civil society, and NGOs, engaging a broader range of stakeholders to ensure that gender equity in leadership is recognized as a cornerstone of the continent's socioeconomic growth.
